Group Night On American Idol: Dysfunction, Bad Song Choices, & Some Good Things TooAh, it’s group night on American Idol. Finally. Yes, I’m a sucker for group night. There’s nothing quite like seeing a bunch of marginally talented people acting they’re on the same plane as Lady Gaga and quickly turning on each other like a pack of self-absorbed jackals. This is the only real “reality show” drama we get all year on this show, and it’s great fun every year.

American Idol Returns Jan. 12 For 9th SeasonNEW YORK (AP) — “American Idol” will return next month with a two-night, four-hour premiere featuring auditions in Boston and Atlanta, the Fox network says.

The Boston auditions will air Jan. 12 and the Atlanta auditions will air Jan. 13, the network announced Wednesday. Auditions for the ninth season of the popular singing competition will also be held in Chicago; Orlando, Fla.; Dallas; Los Angeles and Denver.

Taylor Swift wins five American Music Awards (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Country crossover star Taylor Swift overshadowed the late Michael Jackson at the American Music Awards on Sunday, winning five prizes including artist of the year.

Jackson, who had been expected to enjoy a clean sweep, ended up with four awards. He and Swift went head-to-head in the artist of the year race, the ceremony's final prize.

Other multiple winners included hip-hop acts Jay-Z
