There’s a game everybody plays when we get to the “Three Rooms” episode of “American Idol”, and it goes something like this. If I were in one of those three rooms, which one would I want it to be?
It’s impossible not to play this game the way the producers set up the episode, as we first meet the inhabitants of each room, and then watch their fates play out on the stage. In fact, it’s so easy to play this game, why don’t we play it right now. . .

Ah, it’s group night on American Idol. Finally. Yes, I’m a sucker for group night. There’s nothing quite like seeing a bunch of marginally talented people acting they’re on the same plane as Lady Gaga and quickly turning on each other like a pack of self-absorbed jackals. This is the only real “reality show” drama we get all year on this show, and it’s great fun every year.

Last night the ‘American Idol’ auditions went to Chicago, and continually reminded us that this was where Obama got his start. In fact, we were forced to watch a four-minute opening that compared the auditions to Obama becoming our first African-American President. Because they’re very close in spectrum.
This question also answered the question, “Whatever happened to Shania Twain?” as the country superstar came out of her hiding place just long enough to lend her opinion on the (more…)

The All-American Rejects star Tyson Ritter has sworn off marriage until he hits his 30s - because he’s fed up with women who want him to make a serious commitment. The 25 year old broke up with his model girlfriend of six years, Kim Smith, earlier this year and he admits he has been struggling to find a partner “with substance”.
Now he’s vowing not to settle down for a few more years - so he can enjoy the single life for as long as possible.

NEW YORK (AP) — “American Idol” will return next month with a two-night, four-hour premiere featuring auditions in Boston and Atlanta, the Fox network says.
The Boston auditions will air Jan. 12 and the Atlanta auditions will air Jan. 13, the network announced Wednesday. Auditions for the ninth season of the popular singing competition will also be held in Chicago; Orlando, Fla.; Dallas; Los Angeles and Denver.

Simon Cowell will leave American Idol in 2010, according to his brother. The music mogul has become a TV sensation since taking his seat on the judging panel in 2002, and he’s since become the richest man on TV in the States, earning a massive $75 million in the last year.
As well as his panelist duties on the hit series, he also leads the judges on British talent show “The X Factor,” which he is in negotiations to bring stateside in 2011.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Country crossover star Taylor Swift overshadowed the late Michael Jackson at the American Music Awards on Sunday, winning five prizes including artist of the year.
Jackson, who had been expected to enjoy a clean sweep, ended up with four awards. He and Swift went head-to-head in the artist of the year race, the ceremony's final prize.
Other multiple winners included hip-hop acts Jay-Z
